CDR Removal

In the realm of Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR), Varhad Capital Pvt Ltd has set a remarkable standard. Our project taps into a network of 550,000 farmers across India to capture and sequester CO2 through biochar production.

CDR Removal

Varhad Capital Pvt Ltd, headquartered in Pune, India, is leading a pioneering effort in Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) by harnessing a network of 550,000 farmers across the country. Our approach involves the application of biochar derived from high-carbon-content materials like cotton and pigeon pea stalks, typically cultivated in tropical and subtropical climates. This process results in an impressive removal rate of 2.4 tons of CO2 per ton of biochar applied, aligning with global climate goals.

Varhad Capital’s vision extends beyond carbon capture; it addresses the widespread issue of agricultural residue burning in India. Through a combination of artisanal and industrial-scale biochar production, our project aims to curtail 44,000 tons of CO2eq emissions while simultaneously enriching 20,000 acres of soil with organic carbon. This  approach not only reduces emissions but also enhances agricultural yields and bolsters climate resilience.
